While Procrastinating

"Never invoke the gods unless you really want them to appear. It annoys them very much."

"...And my haunting instinct that somehow good was not merely a tool to be used, but a relic to be guarded, like the goods from Crusoe's ship--even that had been the wild whisper of something originally wise, for, according to Christianity, we were indeed the survivors of a wreck, the crew of a golden ship that had gone down before the beginning of the world."

"The word 'good' has many meanings. For example, if a man were to shoot his grandmother at a range of five hundred yards, I should call him a good shot, but not necessarily a good man."

AH I love Chesterton. (And Goodreads' handy quote gadget.) The first reminds me of Attolia.

A swashbuckling return to Latin and biology homework is now in order.

Post script: So NaNo is now officially over which is sad plus it's December which is frightening. Spent last evening listening to my brother Marshall dictate his last few hundred words before Time Ran Out (he did the Young Writers' Program). The story was very interesting; it involved two Spanish ninjas named Benini and Lulavila, and their fifteen ninja children, plus their daughter Pearacoola who disposed of six people at a time with mad karate skillz and the razor blades on her hands. *nods* And that was entirely unrelated, plus it's time to go make dinner which means I'm saved, for the moment, from biology. Hooray!
