(Guess what, I'm still alive)

“The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.”
-Psalm 19:9

"The fear of the Lord is clean." I think that adjective is perfect. This fear is not the murky, dim anxiety that results when you care what other people think. It's not the feeling of walking a tightrope—in a fog—because you're tormented by the possibility of not upholding human expectations.

The fear of the Lord is clean, pure, shining. It gives confidence instead of draining it. It gives direction to places you would never even consider while you're bound by the fear of man. I know this—but knowing is not the same as doing.

Happy Wednesday, all. :)

  3. In our youth Bible class a week or so ago, we were told to memorize the scripture in Proverbs that says, "The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom, and before honor is humility."

The fear of the Lord is mentioned so many times in Proverbs, and in the Bible generally. Fearing God is pretty important!

Quote you: "It gives direction to places you would never consider while you're bound by the fear of man." That's so true! God will guide you to places and He will show you things that He never could if your focus is on what others think. Truely, you cannot fear God and fear man at the same time!

Much Love! And so glad to see another post...I love reading all you write!:)

  4. Hey Aly...

I was checking out your blog links, and I wound up on the website of Maidens for Modesty. I noticed your name on there a couple times, the content looked awesome, and I also noticed a forum. It looked very interesting - what is it all about? Could you explain it a little bit, maybe? I'd love to know more.

    Love Nastya

  7. I like to fear the Lord is to have a healthy respect for him and his capabilities.

  8. Aly -

You've all missed the genes? How tragic! A "normal" music department? That is simply terrible. Depressing. Music is not normal. But, Aly, you're not normal, so YOU'RE not the one I'm worried about. lol. You're too much like me for me to say that you are anything close to "conventional". lol.

Yes, plans have changes - or, I should say, mostly my outlook on my college plans. Yes, it's so easy to panic. Is it an INTP thing? Because I excell in it also! I won't even try to describe to you the trauma I went through the day before college started. I literally was hiding under the covers. But it's better now:). It always is, after the first day. And you find out you actually CAN live through it.

I'm terribly sorry to hear that your Maidens for Modesty...er.. disintegrated. :( Setting precedents and examples for the future generation. That's why we've started Daughters of Light. We'd love to have guest writers - would you like to write something, since you're rather....out of "work", so to speak? We'd love to have you!:)

    Much love,

    Nastya

  9. Kelsey, it's been a month since your last blog post. You need to quit chasing that darn hat and start writing again. :)

  10. Haha! Too true, too true. Has it really been a whole month? I think that's a new record for blog delinquency. *trots dutifully off*
